Root - True Self - Sense

Journeys designed by philosophy, not itineraries.

After years of traveling the world's celebrated capitals, we realized that while many people "see" Japan, few truly encounter it. The "luxury" of modern travel had become a gilded barrier—impeccable but sterile, keeping the traveler at arm's length from the beating heart of the culture. We founded this brand to tear down that barrier.
The Origin of Our Story

A Different Kind of Luxury

Journeys of Understanding

Global five-star hospitality exists everywhere.

What is rare is a journey that
changes how you see a place —
and quietly, how you live.

We design travel not as consumption,
but as understanding.

Root - True Self - Sense

Our Philosophy That Defines Your Journey

Root

No journey starts without a deep understanding of the historical origin of culture and ingredients.

Your journey begins not in a boardroom, but in the hushed, pre-dawn blue of a temple in Nara in Spring, with an early breakfast themed as "Mugwort and New Rice".

True Self

The structural understanding of the flavor balance presents the best original flavor of each ingredients.

Your breakfast reflects the turning of the season. The rice used is "new rice," prized for its natural sweetness and high moisture content. This morning’s "mush" is a vibrant, pale green. The monks have folded in freshly pounded yomogi (Japanese mugwort) foraged from the temple grounds. It tastes like the color green—floral, slightly bitter, and deeply refreshing. A wobbly cube of sesame tofu (Goma-dofu), handmade at dawn, topped with a tiny dab of fresh wasabi. It’s creamy, cooling, and perfectly balances the warm, herbal rice. You, in this breakfast tranquility, have become the true self.

Sense

The five-sense experiential harmony reflects the total experiential dimension — space, presentation, sound, atmosphere.

Your breakfast atmosphere is one of "Wabi-sabi"—an appreciation for the fleeting, imperfect nature of the moment. You hear the rhythmic clack of a bamboo water pipe (shishi-odoshi) in the courtyard, followed by the soft, distant chanting of monks. The soft slurp of the tea-broth is the only socially acceptable noise within the room. The meal isn't served on plastic or glass, but on materials that age: wood, clay, and iron. In this emptiness, your focus narrows. The steam rising from the rice becomes a visual prayer. You aren't just eating; you are occupying a coordinate of perfect stillness.

Why Food Culture

The Most Direct Way to Encounter a Culture

Before words,
before knowledge,
food speaks through the senses.

In Japan, food reflects
season, restraint, technique, and care —
a way of living, not just eating.

Why Local Destinations

Regional Japan Reveals The Source

Land, ingredients, practices,
and the people whose presence is still felt -
often allowing relationships to form,
not as visitors, but as familiar faces.

Together, they offer
a fuller, more truthful view of Japan.

How the Journey Feels

Not Rush, Not Crowded, Never Standardized

Time is intentionally left open -
to slow down,
to notice small details,
to let the body and mind settle.

Days unfold at a natural pace,
shaped by place, people, and season -
not by schedules.

This is travel that allows you
to be present - not only with places,
but with the people who shape them.

What Stays with You

A Journey that Invites a Return

Some journeys end at the airport.
Others stay -
as ways of eating,
ways of noticing seasons,
ways of valuing craft and time.

This is the travel that does not ask to be remembered.
It simply and quietly invites a return,
not only to a place, but to people.

Designed by a small team
that works quietly with local producers
and cultural practitioners -
over time, not by occasion.

Who This is For

Those who Seek Authenticities

This journey is for those who:

- look for quiet luxury and intellectual engagement

- have traveled widely

- value depth over display, context over checklist tourism

- seek meanings, not accumulation

No two journeys are the same.

Each is designed quietly,

for one client at a time.
